With classical training from the Utrecht Conservatory and the International Opera Studio in Amsterdam, she rose to international prominence after representing the Netherlands in the BBC Singer of the World competition in 2003 and being named “Rising Star” by the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam the following year.
Tania’s 25 year career has taken her to some of the world’s most iconic stages – from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Muziekverein in Vienna. She has toured around the world as a soloist with the leading orchestras including the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Het Concertgebouworkest and the London Symphony Orchestra.
In 2013, Kross initiated and starred in “Katibu di Shon” (written by Carel de Haseth), the first opera in Papiamentu and composed by Randal Corsen commemorating the abolition of slavery in the Dutch Caribbean. Through this groundbreaking work, she helped give voice to the island’s colonial history and cultural identity.
